Kale Chips

Recipes posted a year ago:

I have heard a lot about how tasty kale chips are, but have never eaten them or tried making them until now, and boy I can’t believe I waited so long!  Delicious and super easy!!

Gather Up:

  • One bunch of kale
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt

Heat oven to 300 degrees.  Cut the leaf off the kale from the spine and chop up into “chip” size pieces.  Put in a bowl and toss with olive oil until all is covered.  Spread on a stone baking sheet and sprinkle with salt.

Bake for 20 minutes.  Chips will shrink up. Place in a bowl and munch away.  Surprisingly crunchy and addicting!

  1. These look spectacular…I have looked everywhere for Kale here in France and have only found “Chou Frisé”…is this an acceptable substitute…or can one actually find it in around the Swiss/French border?..If you or any of your readers are “in-the-know” I would be so very grateful…I’m trying to find a healthy “apèro” to satisfy my salt and crunch needs!! Thanking you in advance!

  2. Chou Frise is Kale from what I can find so try that and let us know how it turns out!

  3. Thank you so much for the help in terminology!! I’ll see what I can find and thanks again for the rapid reply…as well as your wonderful blog.

  4. Have you tried this with any other greens like spinach? I tried the Kale but my batch came out intolerably bitter… 😦

  5. Have not tried other greens. They may be slightly bitter, but i would not think it would be intolerable. Maybe it depends on your taste buds? Not sure. If you try something else, let us know how it turns out!

  6. These are AMAZING!!!! I actually used some bacon fat/olive oil combined then tossed with kale. Could eat the whole tray 😉
